If Destiny’s Child Were My Hormones…

HI MOBSTERS IT’S LEAH HERE, FOUNDER AND CEO OF THE HOUSE OF HORMONES, BRINGING YOU YOUR WEEKLY DOSE OF WELLBEING INTEL.

Let’s be honest, hormones can feel like a bit of a mystery. One minute we’re feeling on top of the world, the next we’re Googling “why do I hate everyone before my period?” It’s a lot. But what if we reimagined our hormones as something a little more fabulous? Say… Destiny’s Child? Yes. You read that right.

I'm turning your endocrine system into a girl group. Why? Because it’s time we made hormone chat more fun, more accessible, and a lot less scary.

So, allow us to introduce your inner trio: Estrogen, Progesterone, and Testosterone, aka Beyoncé, Michelle, and Kelly.

Estrogen = Beyoncé

Estrogen is the main character. She keeps things flowing, quite literally, regulating your menstrual cycle, supporting mood, keeping your skin glowing, and your brain feeling sharp. Like Beyoncé, estrogen has presence. When she's in balance, you feel confident, connected, and creative. She’s the powerhouse, the one who leads the show.

But like Queen B, estrogen doesn’t like being messed around. If she drops (like she does during perimenopause or post-ovulation), you might feel emotional, teary, or foggy. Not her fault, she just needs some support, love, and maybe a magnesium-rich snack.

Progesterone = Michelle

Ah, the unsung hero. Often overlooked, but absolutely essential. Progesterone is your calming, nurturing hormone. She kicks in after ovulation, keeping your mood steady and helping you wind down. Think of her as the glue that holds it all together, a bit like Michelle holding those harmonies while the others hit the high notes.

Low progesterone can mean anxiety, poor sleep, irritability, and the classic “I’m not crying, you’re crying” moments. But when she’s supported, through rest, good nutrition, and stress reduction, she’s a total goddess.

Testosterone = Kelly

Bold, strong, and bringing all the fire. Testosterone is often misunderstood, yes, women have it too (just in smaller amounts than men). It fuels your drive, motivation, libido, and even muscle tone. Think of her as your inner badass. Just like Kelly Rowland, quietly cool, full of energy, and totally underrated.

When testosterone is low, you might feel meh, low in confidence, and lacking spark. Too high? You might notice more breakouts, hair changes or feeling overly wired. She just wants to be seen, and balanced.

Hormonal Harmony = Girl Group Magic

Like any good girl group, your hormones are best when they work in sync. No drama, just harmony. And when they’re off? You feel it, physically, mentally, emotionally.

That’s why understanding how they work (and when they don’t) matters so much. This isn’t just “women’s stuff”, it’s your health, your energy, your life.

So next time you’re wondering why you feel like a different person week to week, think of Destiny’s Child. And remember, every superstar needs a little support sometimes.

You got this!
