Gratitude, Health & Hormones
Hi Mobsters, It’s Leah here, founder and CEO of The HOuse of Hormones delivering you your weekly dose of wellbeing intel.
as summer slowly winds down and September begins to take centre stage, it’s the perfect moment to pause and reflect, not with sadness that the long days are behind us, but with gratitude for the season we’ve had and excitement for what’s to come.
Here’s the thing, your hormones love rhythm and routine. Summer is often full of spontaneity, late nights, ice cream runs, holidays, social plans stacked back-to-back. Fun, yes. Balancing, not always. And that’s why this shift into autumn is such a gift. It gives us the chance to reset, refocus, and create healthier habits that will support our bodies and minds.
Gratitude isn’t just a fluffy “feel-good” exercise, it’s proven to lower cortisol (the stress hormone), improve sleep quality, and boost your overall mood. When your stress levels settle, your whole hormonal system breathes a sigh of relief. Progesterone, estrogen, and even testosterone are better able to do their jobs without being constantly hijacked by stress signals. Writing down a few things each day that you’re grateful for isn’t just good for the soul, it’s a tool for hormonal balance.
Reflection is equally powerful. Think of it as taking stock: What gave you energy this summer? What drained it? Did you notice how sunshine lifted your mood, or how rushing from plan to plan left you frazzled? This kind of awareness helps you make intentional choices for the months ahead. Hormones thrive on consistency, so bringing in more focus, with regular meals, steady sleep patterns, and time for rest, is like giving your body the reset it’s craving.
And here’s the exciting part, autumn is a natural season of focus. As the pace of life shifts, it becomes easier to turn inward, to refine routines, and to prioritise health. Your body will thank you for nourishing foods, mindful movement, and downtime that keeps your nervous system calm. Combine that with a daily practice of gratitude, and you’ve got a recipe not just for surviving the next chapter, but for thriving in it.
So instead of thinking of this as the end of something, think of it as the start of a new season for your health and hormones. A season where you can take everything you’ve learned over the summer and carry it forward with more balance, more focus, and a whole lot more kindness for yourself.
Here’s to gratitude, health, and happy hormones as we step into this next chapter together.
Lots of love,
THOH
