Why Are Women So Good At Caring For Everyone Except Themselves?

Hi Mobsters
It's Leah here from The House of Hormones delivering your weekly wellbeing intel!

Let me ask you an honest question:

Why are women so often the first person to notice when someone else needs something……but the last person to notice when they do?
We remember appointments. We organise birthdays. We know everyone’s schedules. We carry emotional responsibility for the people around us. But when someone asks: “How are you?” How often do we actually stop and answer?
For generations, women have been praised for being selfless. Being the one who keeps everything together. Being the one who sacrifices. And while caring for others is a beautiful part of being human, somewhere along the way many women learnt that their own needs should come last. The problem is, your body doesn’t work that way. You cannot constantly give from an empty cup and expect your hormones, nervous system and energy levels not to notice. This isn’t about becoming selfish. It’s about recognising that caring for yourself is part of caring for everyone else. Because when women feel supported, rested and well, the benefits ripple outwards.

So what can we do?

Start small.
Stop treating rest as something you earn.
Eat lunch before everyone else’s plates are cleared.
Book the appointment you’ve been putting off.
Say no without writing a five-paragraph explanation.
Ask yourself: “What do I need today?” Not what does everyone else need. Not what should I be doing. What do I need?
Because the future of women’s health isn’t just about better treatments. It’s also about women finally believing they are worthy of care too!!
