The simple approach you are likely ignoring because it’s “too simple” …but it guarantees success.
80% of us had a kid free day on Monday of last week - they went back to school after Easter.
Was it highly productive for you?
Maybe you were buzzing to sit down to work. You had the time. You had the motivation. And then somehow, the day disappeared and nothing important got done…?
Not because you're disorganised. Was it because nobody ever gave you the filter for deciding what actually matters for your work? That filter costs a lot when you are running a business with the chaos of kids.Wasted time. And time is something we do not have to waste. The external problem is obvious - not enough hours.
But the real problem runs deeper. There's a quiet fear underneath “busyness”... if I put myself out there and it still doesn't work, what then? And underneath that, a message the world has been sending for decades… you can't be a fully present mother and build something real. Pick one. That's the lie.
And this is how we dismantle it.
The Two Priorities That Replace The To-Do ListWhen I joined Apple in 2013, I learned a prioritisation method I've used in every role since. I took it into MOJU when we grew from £1m to £5m in revenue. It comes down to two priorities; one output, one input.
That is it. The rest is noise. Ignore it.Choose Your Two.One - Your output priority is the result you're building toward this year. Mine for The MOB in 2026 - 500 positive testimonials. Two - Your input priority is the one action that, done consistently, makes that result inevitable. For you to find it, simply work backwards from your output priority.Mine is to get testimonials, I need customers to feel the benefit.
To get customers, I need great products.
To build great products, I need to understand what customers are struggling with.
To understand that I need to reach them, I need to be visible to them.My input priority = visibility. That's it. Two priorities.
Everything else is noise.
That’s how us mothers can make sure the limited time we do have to work is used on the right stuff. There’s beauty and efficiency in simplicity.
Complex means distracting.
Complex means paralysing.
Complex means fear and procrastination.Your Turn
Work backwards from your one output priority. What single input, done consistently, makes it inevitable? That's your input priority.Email us mobster@mumswhobuild.com and tell us, we want to help!BC
