The 4 C’s Every Mum Building a Business Needs

Hi Mobsters, It’s Francesca here, The MOB’s resident Business Mentor and coach, I hope you all had a good weekend?
Today I am talking about the 4C’s every mum building a business needs.
Building a business with parental responsibilities has its challenges. Personally I disregard the concept of 'work, life balance' and consider things as 'work, life integration'.
As such it helps if we focus equally on building ourselves alongside the business.
Over the years, coaching ambitious women and living this reality myself, I’ve built a framework to help ambitious minds stay focused.
I call them the 4 C’s.

1. Clarity

Know what you’re building and why. Simon Sinek, famously said ;Know your Why'

Clarity is where everything starts.
Without it, every decision feels heavy. You second-guess yourself. You chase too many ideas. You wonder if you’re “doing it right”.
Clarity doesn’t mean having a 10-year master plan.
It means being able to answer, right now:
  • What am I building?
  • Who is it for?
  • Why does this matter to me and my family?
When you have clarity, your business stops feeling like another thing on the to-do list and starts feeling intentional. Aligned. Worth the effort.

2. Conviction

Decide that this matters  even when it’s hard.

Conviction is the quiet decision you make when no one is clapping.
It’s what keeps you going when:
  • The launch doesn’t land
  • Growth feels slower than you hoped
  • You’re juggling clients and childcare and wondering if you’re being “selfish”
Conviction is saying: This matters enough for me to keep showing up.
Not because it’s easy.
But because you believe in what you’re building and what it represents for you, and for your children watching you.
You don’t need everyone to understand your business.
You just need you to believe in it.
Too many times I've had founders seek my approval of their ideas, when what they should be looking for is to convince themselves and everyone around them why they should invest time pursuing what they are doing.

3. Confidence

Built through action not perfection.

Imposter Syndrome? Why yes of course you do! When you start a business you are wearing all the hats in the room. Nobody is a master of everything. The secret is to know what you are good at and what gaps you need to plug. Oh and be a little bold along the way. So I am telling you to just get on and....
  • Post the content
  • Pitch yourself
  • Raise your prices
  • Say “yes” to bigger opportunities
Use The MOB App to skill swap, post opportunities, list the skills you need and find the people that can help you grow. Confidence grows every time you keep a promise to yourself, however small.
And remember: your children don’t need a perfect role model.
They need a bold one.

4. Consistency

Small steps. Repeated. Over time.

This is the one that changes everything.

Not hustle.
Not burnout.
Not all-or-nothing energy.
Consistency is choosing progress over perfection.
It’s showing up even when:
  • You only have 30 minutes
  • You’re tired
  • You are wondering what's the point
Businesses aren’t built overnight. Consistent daily action over time will yield a result I PROMISE! Why not try posting two goals you need to get done today using The MOB App Goal setting tool. Do it daily and you will be on the right track to meeting those bigger goals.

In Summary:

If you’re building a business, you don’t need to do everything.

You need:
  • Clarity to know where you’re going

  • Conviction to stay the course

  • Confidence built through action

  • Consistency to let time work in your favour

Go for it, be bold, be focused, be you Mobsters.

About mOB+

MOB+ is The MOB's paid membership for only £9.99 per month.

If you’re reading this and thinking, “I’d love more support, but I’m careful about where I spend my money”, you’re not alone.

That’s exactly why MOB+ exists. For £9.99 a month, you get access to our private MOB+ Slack community and our expert-led 12-week programs, designed to help you build real confidence and momentum over time, not just give you a one-off boost.

These aren’t webinars you watch and forget. They’re structured, community-supported programs led by experts in areas mums actually need support with, including return to work, marketing confidence, PR and getting media-ready, retail readiness, career transitions, wellbeing, and building financial confidence and investing. You move through them week by week, ask questions as you go, learn alongside other mums, and build habits that stick. You can also repeat programs whenever you need to.

Alongside the community and programs, you also get full access to The MOB App, which gives you the structure to stay on track. That includes our member directory (with links to socials), a goal tracker, a mood tracker for journalling, MOB Pods (your rotating mini accountability group every 3 months), plus exclusive digital resources and benefits.

One coaching session can cost £80. One networking event can be £30. One online course can be £200. MOB+ is designed to put that level of ongoing, expert support in your pocket, for about the cost of a coffee a week.

And you don’t have to use everything for it to be worth it. If just one program, one conversation, or one tool helps you feel more confident, more supported, or less alone, it’s already paid for itself.

If you’re done trying to figure it all out on your own, MOB+ is here when you’re ready.
